A FERRY ride from orcas island
A 1930s French Normandy style cottage in Los Angeles gets a serendipitous make-over while keeping its original humble charm. The creative couple wanted to make the space feel a little more like them- casual, fun and to display the vintage finds they’ve gathered from their travels.
One of their favorite domestic adventures was their journey to the Pacific Northwest spending Christmastime in a cabin in the majestic Orcas Island.
Naturally, we envisioned a 1800s fishermen seaside vibe by selecting understated organic slipcover materials, camp-like gingham prints, cable knit sweater pillows, nautical stripes to work with existing utilitarian antique opal gas lamp and original O’Keefe & Merritt white enameled stove. We also mixed in a few mid-century pieces- oval walnut coffee table, tomato-colored 1950s GE clock, classic tan leather reading chair, and a sawhorse table for an inviting creative energy.
Another property on the opposite side of town also got a fresh kitchen update in the same utilitarian and practical fashion.
